Thursday 2 April 2015 saw the official opening of the Pelican Pool Lifter at Bellingen Swim Centre. The hoist was one of the four projects in the Bellingen Shire funded through the Southern Phone Grants Scheme and will improve pool accessibility allowing people with disabilities greater opportunities to enjoy the benefits of water based activities. The opening of the lifter was very well attended by both YMCA and Council staff, as well as several key community advocates of social inclusion and accessibility. The lifter is a wonderful addition to the Bellingen community and will benefit many members of the public.
