Southern Phone awards $20,000 to four Eurobodalla surf clubs
Southern Phone Company, one of Australia's leading providers of mobile phone, home phone and broadband services has announced that they are awarding $20,000 to four Eurobodalla surf clubs.
The funds, part of Moruya based Southern Phone Company’s new community program will be given to Batemans Bay, Broulee, Moruya and Narooma surf clubs.
Managing Director, David Joss announced the awards on 8 May 2017.
Earlier in the year, all four Eurobodalla surf clubs were invited to apply for a $5,000 sponsorship. The money will now go towards purchasing equipment identified by each of the surf clubs for their own club’s needs:
- Batemans Bay SLSC will purchase a patrol trailer;
- Broulee Surfers SLSC will purchase an inflatable rescue boat;
- Moruya SLSC will purchase an all-terrain vehicle;
- Narooma SLSC will purchase new boards for their nipper’s program.
In announcing the awards, David Joss reinforced the company’s strong connection with the Eurobodalla.
“Southern Phone is a community company at heart and our business makes a real difference to regional Australia. By contributing to community organisations that give so much to our region, we are able to help make a positive impact on the place in which we live.”
“One of the most prominent news items this summer has been related to the number of drownings and shark sightings, both playing a part in bringing Surf Life Saving to the forefront as organisations that require support.”
“Many of our staff are patrolling members of local surf clubs or swim at our local beaches and utilise the services the surf clubs provide,” David Joss said.
A gifting ceremony was conducted at Southern Phone Company’s offices on Wednesday 10 May.
