Southern Phone is owned by 41 shareholder councils and pays all dividends back to local communities through its shareholders.
Mr Hilzinger said the ratepayers were the shareholders in the company. "You're all shareholders in Southern Phones, you pay the rates, these guys (council) only think they're the shareholders, yet you are," he said with a laugh. "It's your money, not ours."
Mayor of Narromine Shire Bill McAnally thanked Mr Hilzinger. "The $25,000 given to our shire has made a real difference bringing resources to projects that council could not fund on its own," he said
