What is Sky Muster® Plus Premium?
Both Sky Muster® and Sky Muster® Plus Premium(available to all Sky Muster® customers) provide access to satellite broadband services – the key difference is simply how the data is metered or shaped.
- With standard Sky Muster® plans, all data is metered and you have a set amount of data each month.
- With Sky Muster® Plus Premium plans most online activity is unmetered except for video streaming* and VPN (Virtual Private Network) traffic use between 4pm - 12am midnight.
*Most video streaming is metered use between 4pm - 12am midnight but streaming embedded video content on certain social media platforms is unmetered, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr and LinkedIn.
What will be categorised as metered usage on Sky Muster® Plus Premium?
- All online activity accessed via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is metered between 4pm - 12am midnight.
- Streaming or downloading video, including from sites like YouTube and Netflix (but excluding embedded video content on certain social media platforms) is metered between 4pm - 12am midnight.

What happens if I use all of my metered data allowance?
If you reach your monthly metered allowance, your unmetered usage will remain unshaped. This means you will be able to continue to send and receive emails, use social media, and use online banking without experiencing shaped speeds. Metered Usage will be shaped to speeds of 512/256kbps in your Peak time once you exceed your monthly data allowance for that period.
What speeds can I get on Sky Muster® Plus?
Sky Muster® Plus has one speed tier of 25/5Mbps, with a Speed Burst feature allowing the service to burst above 25/5Mbps subject to available network capacity. During an nbn® Sky Muster® Plus user trial, test participants reported enjoying speeds in excess of 40Mbps, but please be aware – as these results were from a sample size only – they may not be indicative of actual results.
What speeds can I get on the Sky Muster® Plus Premium plan?
Sky Muster® Plus Premium has a speed tier of 25/5Mbps, with a Speed Burst feature allowing the services download speeds to burst above 100Mbps subject to available network capacity. During an nbn® Sky Muster® Plus user trial, test participants reported enjoying speeds in excess of 40Mbps, but please be aware – as these results were from a sample size only – they may not be indicative of actual results.
What will happen on installation day?
On installation day, the technician will arrive and survey your property to find a suitable location for the nbn® satellite dish. If a suitable location is found, a standard installation will typically take between 2 to 4 hours.
