Tasmanian Bushfire and QLD Flood Relief Support

Community is at the core of our values.

Since Christmas 2018, there has been almost 200,000 hectares of land burnt out in the Tasmania bushfires. More recently, Townsville in North Qld has been devastated with flooding that’s reported to have affected up to 2,000 residents.

It’s important that we reach out to our customers in the impacted areas and offer assistance where we can.

We will be offering the following assistance for SP customers impacted by the bushfires in Tasmania and the floods in Townsville:

  • Free call diversion: if your home phone service is no longer working due to damage, Southern Phone offers free call diversion to a mobile or fixed line number.
  • Payment extension: those suffering financial hardship as a result of fire or flood damage may apply to have the due date of their bill extended.
  • Fee waiver: late fees, break of contract fees and other fees that result from a property destruction may be waived. Activation and reconnection fees may also be waived if customers seek to reconnect their service within 12 months.
  • Severe financial hardship: in situations where there is severe financial hardship due to the destruction of property, you may apply for Southern Phone to waive your bill.
