What activity is capped and uncapped?

Both nbn™ Sky Muster™ and Sky Muster™ Plus provide access to fast broadband services. The key difference between the two lies in how that data is 'capped' or measured.

Capped data allowance for video streaming and VPN traffic
From 25GB (Peak) to 150GB (Peak)
Capping
Only video streaming* and any online activity accessed via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is capped between the hours of 4pm - 12am midnight. All other online activities are uncapped by default. Other exclusions and fair use conditions apply.

Examples of capped video streaming between 4pm - 12am midnight include: Netflix, ABC iView, Stan, FOXTEL, YouTube, TikTok, Play On and embedded video on newspaper and magazine websites.

Examples of Virtual Private Network activity between 4pm - 12am midnight include: accessing the internet through products like Nord VPN, Norton Secure VPN, Pure VPN and/ or VPNs proprietary to workplaces and companies.

Embedded video streaming is capped between 4pm - 12am midnight except for certain social media platforms, including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr and LinkedIn.

While video streaming is capped between 4pm - 12am midnight, video calling applications are uncapped. Examples of common video calling applications include: Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, FaceTime, Google Duo, Snapchat, Instagram Live, Viber, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Line, Tango, MyVMR and GoToMeeting.

*Most video streaming is capped between 4pm - 12am midnight, but streaming embedded video content on certain social media platforms is uncapped, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr and LinkedIn.
