Funds Raised For Moruya Women's Refuge

Share

On Wednesday 26th July 2017, Southern Phone hosted a Christmas in July fundraiser to support the Moruya Women’s Refuge, and to raise much needed funding for the purchase and installation of heating into the Refuge.

Staff celebrated the day by wearing their ugliest Christmas jumpers, participating in raffles & a staff auction; and purchasing BBQ sliders and soft drinks for lunch.

The fundraiser was more than a day about ugly jumpers and delicious burgers, it was about helping members of our local community.

The Moruya Women's Refuge which is part of the South-East Women and Children’s Service, provides crisis accommodation and support for women and children, who are experiencing domestic violence and/or are homeless. With domestic and family violence being the leading cause of homelessness for women and their children in Australia, programs such as this are critical to our community.

With the business agreeing to dollar match staff contributions, we are proud to announce that a total of $5,500 was raised on the day – meaning the Refuge can now install much needed heating and cooling that will make the refuges clients a little more comfortable.
